Gasthaus zum Löwen

Project Description

The world is now upgrading for 9 billion people. However, forecasts and current developments also indicate that the world population will decrease significantly from 2050. This raises many questions: How do we live and work in the future? How do we deal with our buildings? How can we be sustainable in all cases? We discuss the different scenarios and define strategies for meaningful, future-proof structural interventions in Hard. The community at Lake Constance has come with the current problem of vacant cultural goods to us: in the village center, close to the lake, it has some historic buildings and open spaces. The Restaurant Löwen, the Seezentrum with a cinema and an extensive school area will be our real test fields. Innovative usage scenarios as models of a future community will be integrated into the project. Whether this is done by demolition, with new plans or extensions shall be determined in each case individually. Each student creates his own architecture and urban project. From the design concept to the smallest detail, projects are formulated and will clearly show the competence of the students of this studio. The topics of the structural shaping of the future, the issues of identities, assessment and work on the cultural values in Hard as well as current issues in architecture (energy, low tech, naturalness) will give us plenty of scope for interesting and different projects.
