Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and smart services are reshaping how we work, do business, and live together. A responsible and nuanced approach to digitalisation also considers its social and environmental implications.
Digitalisation means, among other things, one-click online shopping, instant answers to any question thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), video calls with friends, or training AI on medical data to save lives. My team is working to drive digitalisation forward through tangible innovations – and to generate knowledge that helps us better understand its opportunities and risks."
Digitalisation in Research and Knowledge Transfer
At the University of Liechtenstein, digitalisation is a central Topic in Focus across research and knowledge transfer. The emphasis lies on developing and evaluating digital innovations that contribute to sustainable transformation. Research addresses current challenges of digital transformation in fields such as architecture and spatial development, economics, law, and society. This work generates new approaches for shaping a digital and responsible future. Practice-oriented projects, interdisciplinary collaboration, and direct dialogue with industry and society are at the heart of these efforts.
Digitalisation is increasingly shaping economic life and presents new challenges for criminal law. My research and teaching focus on economic and cyber criminal law as well as current regulatory frameworks such as DORA and MiCAR. At the same time, technological innovations such as blockchain and artificial intelligence are central to my work — along with their implications for criminal liability and regulatory compliance."
