The Grants Office at the University of Liechtenstein supports researchers in identifying suitable funding opportunities and successfully applying for research grants. Whether national or international programmes, the Grants Office helps match project ideas with the right funding scheme and provides guidance throughout the application process and project implementation.
The Grants Office is the central point of contact for all matters related to research funding, grants, and the efficient management of third-party funds. Its goal is to provide researchers with optimal support in acquiring and implementing national and international projects from the initial idea to final project completion.

Innosuisse projects play a particularly important role in this area. They enable companies from Liechtenstein and Switzerland to realise innovation projects together with the University of Liechtenstein, based on academic expertise and supported by public funding.
In the field of architecture and spatial development, so-called KTT projects are carried out in cooperation with municipalities, government agencies, and foundations, providing concrete solutions to questions of construction technology and spatial design. In addition, researchers at the University of Liechtenstein offer research services in the form of commissioned studies, surveys, and legal opinions.
The 2024 Digitalization Survey reveals a clear contradiction in Liechtenstein: while 89 percent of the population sees digital transformation as an opportunity, only ten percent believe that political decision-makers are competent enough to manage this change.

Since 2005, the Children’s University at the University of Liechtenstein has inspired young researchers aged 8 to 12 to explore academic topics in architecture, law, and business. Through age-appropriate lectures, researchers provide exciting insights and foster an early interest in education.
Once a year, the University of Liechtenstein celebrates the Dies Academicus. This long-standing academic tradition provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange on education, research, and the role of the university in Liechtenstein and beyond. As part of the Dies Academicus, the Research Prize of the Principality of Liechtenstein is also awarded, honouring outstanding achievements at the University of Liechtenstein.
The Liechtenstein Academic Symposium is an event organised by the Liechtenstein Higher Education Network and was held for the first time in 2023. It aims to strengthen scientific exchange between Liechtenstein’s educational and research institutions on the one hand, and the general public on the other. In addition to keynote speeches and discussions, current research projects are presented as part of a poster exhibition.
In addition to its professorships, the University of Liechtenstein hosts research centres, named and thematic labs, as well as other decentralised units and networks. These entities combine academic expertise, interdisciplinary research, and practice-oriented knowledge transfer, thereby broadening and deepening the university’s research profile. They address current challenges and foster collaboration between academia, industry, and society.
The Earth Hub conducts research on innovative solutions for resource-efficient construction, with a particular focus on environmentally friendly materials such as clay and timber. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue with industry and society, this centre of expertise contributes to the sustainable transformation of the construction sector.
The Bank Frick Innovation Finance Lab is dedicated to current trends in the financial sector. Its main areas of focus include blockchain, fintech, token economy, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Through collaborations with the financial industry, this named lab strengthens knowledge transfer between research and practice.
Mathematical and statistical competence forms the foundation of many scientific disciplines. The Thematic Lab for Mathematics and Statistics supports students and researchers through subject-specific guidance, academic exchange, and the recognition of outstanding work.
The Research Unit on Foundations, Methodology and Development in Liechtenstein Law explores both historical and contemporary legal issues related to the Liechtenstein legal system. Its basic research focuses in particular on methodological questions. The applied research concentrates on civil procedural law — with special emphasis on arbitration, as well as on private international law and insurance law.

We organise 3 to 4 excursions per semester to explore exciting places beyond Liechtenstein. Recently, we’ve visited a Christmas market in Austria and gone go-karting. In Switzerland, we’ve been hiking and bowling.
